I HAD ALWAYS BEEN INTERESTED...

in natural medicine, but my journey really began when my husband & I decided to start a family. I was dealing with hormone issues & we decided to seek out traditional Chinese medicine. Within two weeks of taking herbs, getting acupuncture & following a whole foods-based diet, I fell pregnant. Herbs are now a staple in our home, and we turn to teas, tinctures & syrups for any ailments.

In the midst of Melbourne's first lockdown

family & friends were asking for ways they could boost their immunity, get better sleep & ways to relax in uncertain times. I started making my Elderberry Syrup & teas for them & the idea grew from that.

I founded my brand, DWH, to help others experience the benefits of herbs for medicinal purposes. I am passionate about herbs and believe in their healing properties.

My teas, tinctures and syrups are made with organic and where possible local, herbs, roots and flowers.

The ritual of taking tea

Is one of my favorite things because it forces me to slow down and be present in the moment.

I saw a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner throughout both my pregnancies and fell in love with the concept. Teas play a huge part in TCM with a variety of herbs and roots available to treat many aliments naturally.

I believe that

Everything we need to stay healthy, and to some extent to heal, is already provided for us in nature.

There are many known benefits to using herbs for medicinal purposes and I look forward to sharing how nature already provides what we need for our health and wellbeing.

I am particularly drawn to

the 16th century story of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

A story of a healer, Li Shizhen, who flipped the practice of being paid for treating sick patients on its head.

He said, ‘to cure diseases is like waiting until someone is thirsty before digging a well' and started a trend that asked for a small payment from his patients as long as they were healthy. If they fell ill the healer would treat them without any compensation. This prompted both the patient and the practitioner to take responsibility for the patient's health, through the consumption of healthy foods and herbs when needed.

I appreciate the way that TCM provides individuals with a means to improve their health and wellbeing. The opposite of what Western Society is accustomed to today.

My favourite part of having a herbal business is

Formulating new teas and herbal offerings, researching which herbs work well together, and creating unique flavour and scent profiles.

My teas are heavily influenced by Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), utilizing herbs that have been used for thousands of years to not only relieve symptoms but also address the root causes of illness.

Sustainability is very important to me

All of my products are either reusable or biodegradable. I carefully select items that are not grown with synthetic fertilizers or herbicides, have no hidden ingredients, additives, or artificial flavors. Pure and natural, just as nature intended.

Organic ingredients not only taste better, but they are better for your health and for the environment. My plan is to eventually use as many locally grown organic herbs as I can find here on the Sunshine Coast.

What's next

I am constantly creating new teas & Syrups to help with different ailments. Make sure you subscribe to our monthly Newsletter 'Hands on Herbal' & our mailing list to stay informed about new releases.
